Second mommy

Miriam doesn't miss an opportunity to parent her younger siblings. This video would have been longer, better and more cute if Mommy had been more on the ball and not run out of space on the memory card in the camera... :(

Slam dunk

Cora made several shots like this at after church at Checkrow on Thanksgiving weekend.  She loved every minute of it.  Good thing Daddy is tall!

Great Grandma Ekiss

The next day, Walker got to meet his other great grandparent, Great Grandma Ekiss, for the first time when we went to her house for Thanksgiving dinner.

Great Grandparents

Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Hess came down to visit the day before Thanksgiving while they were staying at [Great] Aunt Suzie's house.

Good times

This past Monday, Mommy took all three kids to the pediatrician (talk about FUN! :)) - Walker for his 1-month checkup, Cora for her 2-year checkup (a little early... her birthday is next Friday, the 18th) and Miriam for her second dose of the H1N1 nasal mist. While the pediatrician's office is one of my least favorite places to take three children age three and under - especially this time of year - the visit went okay. Walker weighed 12 pounds, 11 ounces which puts him in the 95th percentile for weight and he was in the 90th percentile for height. Cora was in the 92nd percentile for weight and the 95th percentile for height. I'm thanking God for healthy children who love to eat and plenty of food to feed them!

Remind you of anything?

"I'm a BIG stister!" (misspelling is intentional)

Zoo

The Monday after Walker was born, Daddy made a last-minute decision to take one more day off work. The weather was nice so we made a trip to the zoo. The girls had a great time and Walker didn't even know that we left the house.

Miriam and Cora meet Walker

This video was taken when we first arrived home from the hospital Friday evening.
Primary initial responses (the sound quality on the video isn't great):
Cora: "What's that?"
Miriam: "Who gave it to you?"

Introducing Walker Allen Steele

He has arrived

God has again been so gracious as to bless us with another healthy child. Our son was born yesterday - Thursday, November 5th - around 4:30 p.m. His name is yet to be determined and he weighed 10 pounds, 3.5 ounces and is 22 inches long. Everyone is doing well.

We appreciate all who have been praying for us. God answered so many prayers in many wonderful and amazing ways that only He can. He has been so good to us.

Pictures will follow.

Just waiting...

Anticipating baby brother's arrival is exhausting... but at least we've got each other. Hey, wasn't he due yesterday???
"Look, Mommy! I a princess!"
The girls are really enjoying doing their own hair lately. Mommy's headbands are a favorite accessory.

Biting hurts

This book was part of Miriam's birthday gift from Grandma and Grandpa Steele.

Can anyone guess why? (You can click on the picture if you'd like to see a bigger version.)

Miriam's 3rd Birthday

We celebrated Miriam's 3rd birthday last Tuesday, October 13th. Miriam (and Mommy and Cora) had a cold but we still had a good time.
The song
The cake
(oatmeal cake, per the birthday girl's request)
The presents!

Almost done baking

With less than a week until my due date, this is how our newest addition is shaping up these days.
Big sister is taking a much-needed nap on him right now and he doesn't seem to mind all that much. Just a little taste for him of the days ahead... :)

Shoreline Classic

About a month ago, Joel ran the Shoreline Classic 15K (9.3 miles) back in Decatur. He did really well and the three of us girls had a fun time watching him.
Waiting to see Daddy around the halfway point
You'll notice the big smile on Joel's face and the kind gentleman in the foreground of the picture below... as soon as Cora spotted Daddy running by, she proceeded to charge right out into the intersection. Mommy is so thankful that this man was willing and able to catch her!

After Daddy finished running, the girls ran the "Tiny Tot Trot" - a 50 yard dash for ages 5 and under. Cora experienced the usual "first race meltdown" (see Mim's here: http://joelsteele.blogspot.com/2009/05/mims-first-race.html) but they both did great and finished on their own two feet. They received numbered bibs, medals and a goody bag just like Daddy and also got balloons and the chance to jump in bouncy houses!

Mim even figured out a way to make a little street music to cheer on the runners.

Potential Christmas Card Pictures

This weekend we had a home energy audit done. We talked the auditor into taking a family picture of us with his $14K camera.

Sisterly slumber soiree

What better place is there than the middle of the kitchen floor for a little mid-afternoon slumber party?

Priceless

Miriam: "Cora, do you want to touch God's true Word in the Bible?" Mim asks Cora and I that question numerous times each day.

Dancing Diva

It's hard to hear the music coming from the TV, but the song 'In the Belly of the Whale' by Newsboys that plays during the credits of 'Jonah: A Veggie Tales Movie' really gets her feet moving.

Birthday Bonanza

Our friend Logan turned two in August and he's so cool that he knew the right connections to get a pirate ship bounce house in his yard for his birthday party! Kids and adults alike had a great time. [And in case you were wondering about safety, of course there was an "operator on duty" at all times... just like the big sign posted right at the entrance says. ;) ]
